Designing Websites in Charleston, SC + beyond. Why we do what we do.

Website design wasn’t always my plan.
Right now, I’m writing this from my cozy little home office in Charleston, South Carolina… also known as our spare bedroom. I’ve got an iced coffee in hand, crystals and art on the bookshelf next to me, and a deep sense of peace (and purpose) in this space I’ve built.

But lately, I’ve been reflecting on what got me here, and why I love helping other service-based business owners bring their vision to life through intentional website design.

Everyone Starts Somewhere

When I first started my business, I did what most people do:
I Googled “how to build a website.”

And honestly? It was overwhelming.

Between hosting platforms, domain providers, and design tools, I had no idea where to begin. I ended up on Squarespace because I heard about it on a podcast, and hey, there was a discount code involved. I bought my domain through GoDaddy, because that’s what I’d heard of.

Pro Tip from a Charleston Squarespace Designer:

If you're using Squarespace, buy your domain through them too.
Keeping everything under one platform saves so much time and reduces tech stress later on. Trust me on this one.

Your Website Makes It Real

A client of mine here in Charleston recently said something that hit me right in the heart:

“I knew I had to redesign my website first, because it makes my business real.”

Yes. That’s exactly it.

When I launched my first site, I didn’t have an office or a big team. I had a dream, a hand-me-down Mac desktop, and a whole lot of determination. But the moment I clicked “publish,” it shifted everything.

Your website is more than a link.
It’s a declaration: I’m here. I’m in business. Let’s go.

What I Did Wrong (So You Don’t Have To)

In those early days, I rebuilt my website constantly. New service? New layout. New idea? New homepage.

What I didn’t realize was that my site didn’t need more updates, it needed a better foundation.

It needed clarity. Cohesion. Strategy.
It needed professional design.

But that’s how I learned- through trial, error, and late nights tinkering with fonts and mobile breakpoints. Eventually, clients started asking for help with their websites, and before I knew it, my website design business was born.

Looking back, I wish I had just hired a Squarespace designer sooner and spent my energy on what truly mattered: connecting with clients and growing my brand.

If You’re In That “Half-Built Website” Phase...
